If the rain comes, they run and hide their heads.
January 29, 2008

January is retreating, which is good because i need more light, less rain. Stat.

Tour was fantastic. We played with the band Fishboy, who were completely amazing. I miss hearing their set every night. So i stave off withdrawals by listening to their CD.

We met some great kids in Anacortes, WA at the Department of Safety. Reunited with Boat in Seattle. We did a massive group karaoke in San Francisco--the big hits were Creedence's Have You Ever Seen The Rain?" and Backstreet Boys' "I Want It that way"--my own submission!! Towards the end of the tour, the great songstress Anya Marina put ten pounds on us each in San Diego.

Then we went home for Christmas in Omaha, and revisited the place that we sang about in "Another Christmas at Home". It's called the Homy Inn. We did not order the fabled champagne on tap but i bought a sweet tshirt for my man friend.

I can't wait to buy the new Cat Power. Metal Heart is my favorite song of hers, and she's redone it epically on this record.

We had a blast at KPSU's live Friday a couple of weeks back. Jeremy, who I did an interview with last year, was a charming host. We should have some live tracks up on the site soon.

We're wokring on some brand new songs for a cool event at Richard Hugo House (http://www.hugohouse.org) in Seattle, called Love is the Drug. It's going to be a stripped down set, just Nick playing the Epiphone and me with my hands folded gingerly in my lap, singing my heart out.

In April, we'll start playing regular shows again. The first is with The Village Green, a band I'm really, really excited about. I just sang on their unbelievably good record-in-progress.

Stay dry. I'm going to Cloverfield tomorrow and i hope i don't barf.

R.I.P Heath Ledger. You were great, and you would have only become greater.

New album, Cold City, out today!!!
December 4, 2007

It's a very special day here at Eux Autres World Headquarters as our new CD, Cold City, comes out today on Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records! It's been a while since the last one and, as one might expect, we are very excited. Head over to www.hhbtm.com to pick up your copy. If you're interested, there may still be pre-order copies available, which come with lots of bonus goodies (EP, stocking, button, etc).

In other news:

-To coincide with the release of our album, we've completely redesigned our website (as you can see). There are plenty of new things to check out, including lyrics and a band name pronunciation guide for those who don't know how to say it (we apologize).

-It's December, which means it's time to dust off our holiday song, "Another Christmas at Home." Though the limited edition CDs are all gone, it's streaming over on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/euxautres) and also available at fine digital retailers everywhere (iTunes, eMusic, Rhapsody, etc.)

-Scott B. from Australian poppers Summer Cats has compiled an great podcast for Slumberland Records and was nice enough to include one of our new songs on it.

-We're hitting the road on Friday to play some west coast shows, most of which are with our excellent labelmates, Fishboy. This means we will be firing up the ol' Eux Autres tour blog so you can follow all the action from the comfort of your own home.

Eux Autres vs. Ghostface vs. Too $hort
November 27, 2007

So a lot of people have been asking me about this supposed feud between Eux Autres and Ghostface, this Kanye-esque battle for chart supremacy on December 4th. Well, I'll tell you what I told everyone else--NO COMMENT.

I'm not going to get dragged into one of these who-can-sell-more-records-in-the-first-week fracases. This band has not and never will be about album sales. It's about the music, man.

But hey, if Ghostface wants to go and move his release date to December 4 (and we've all known for months that our album drops on 12/4), then go right ahead. Like I said, it's all about the music here at Eux Autres Central, but if we're going to have our integrity questioned like this, we're taking all comers. Wu Tang knew what was good for them. Once they caught wind that Cold City was out on 12/4, they pushed their record back to 12/11.

And today we received word that Too $hort is dropping album 17 (which must be his 9th "last album") on 12/4 also. Yeah, I might be concerned about this development if it was 1995. Bring it, Too!!!

I'm just tired of these games. So childish. I just want to go back to the way it was when we all started out in the business. Can it be that it was all so simple then?

Release date for record is set--December 4
October 7, 2007

It's crisping up outside, which means lots of Neil Young and the occasional hot toddy. Last week we played with the always excellent Lucksmiths and their child sized tshirts almost made me want to have a baby. But then I woke up.

Miranda July makes a really nice mention of Other Girls in the NY Times books blog. She totally nailed the sentiment of the song, which is all about failed ritualistic crush manipulation. I can't wait to see the movie she's working on.

We finally have a release date for the record--December 4th. This means that we get to play our Christmas song on tour! We will be hitting the road in the first/second week of December, playing up and down the entire west coast. We’re also hoping to head out again in the spring.

And we've been writing lots of songs lately. In February, we're doing a show at the Hugo House literary series in Seattle and they’ve asked us to write a series of devastated love songs. This shouldn’t be a problem, as the only reason we have anything but devastated love songs is Nick censors me--adding songs about the Spanish Inquisition and whatnot.

Meanwhile, keep listening, eat some apples, get your winter coat dry-cleaned--you deserve it. And if you’re in Portland, come see us on November 8th at the Towne Lounge with The Hepburns and Anthony Rochester.
